On October 20 and 21, the Shanxi opera "Yu Chenglong", created by Taiyuan Jin Opera Art Research Institute, made a magnificent debut at the Qinghua Cultural Palace in Xi 'an City, Shaanxi Province. It was the only drama competition in Shanxi Province that was shortlisted for the "15th Mandarin Award" of the 11th China Art Festival.

"The First Female of Jin Opera-Xie Tao"

Mr. Xie Tao's singing is vigorous and full of grace. He has the elegance of a scholar and the bearing of an official.  It vividly illustrates the official idea of Yu Chenglong, a famous official in the Qing Dynasty, that "the people should be treated leniently and the officials should be treated strictly". It promotes his official spirit of "people-oriented, diligent and honest, and dare to take on responsibilities". It has shaped a Yu Chenglong with flesh and blood, a strong character, and both honesty and ability.

The play combines realism and romanticism closely, winning applause from the audience with clever plot design, full characterization, unique Jin opera singing, soft lighting rendering, atmospheric stage presentation and shocking audio-visual effect.

Jin Opera "Yu Chenglong" has participated in the performance of Shanxi Province's excellent newly-created plays, such as the performance of excellent plays in commemoration of the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Party and the tour of excellent newly-created plays. It has been selected into the 2015 stage art creation funding project of the National Art Fund and the "Top Ten Key Supporting Plays in 2016" of the Ministry of Culture's national stage art creation project.
